Privacy is a matter of significant global significance. It is safeguarded in numerous countries through a combination of statutes, constitutional rights, and decisions by courts. Privacy is widely recognised as a fundamental right in the constitutional legislation of various nations across the world. India has ratified the Universal Declaration on Human Rights 1948 and the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights, both of which acknowledge privacy as an inherent and essential right. Despite being a member and participant in international agreements, India lacks legislation that ensures the right to privacy for its people. The provisions of the Constitution of India do not explicitly reference the concept of "privacy". The legal inquiry in the case of M.P Sharma pertained to the matter of the right to property.
