HEALTH RISK BEHAVIOUR, EMOTIONS AND CARDIOVASCULAR RISK FACTORS AMONG ADOLESCENTS: AN EMPERICAL INVESTIGATION

Risky behavior is not only an expression of personal preference, but also has a symbolic meaning and may be a source of personal gratification and enjoyment. Young people are known to be more prone to engage in risky behaviors such as substance abuse, smoking, youth crime, suicide and teen-age pregnancy etc. than adults. Social recognition has long been considered to be an essential aspect of risky behavior among young people who are seeking acceptance by their peers and/or integration into peer groups. In India particularly, adolescents are put under pressure to perform well in examinations, for some students, which is generally manifested in a variety of psychological and behavioral problems later.Risk behaviors tend to ‘cluster’ and participation in multiple risk behaviors is associated with a range of negative outcomes such as low educational attainment, being bullied and emotional health problems like poor anger management. In today’s world, adolescents
