Assessing Customer Awareness and Preferences of Green Banking Initiatives in Selected Public and Private Sector Banks – A Case Study of Vijayapura District

As environmental sustainability gains prominence, banks are adopting more environmentally conscious policies to align with global environmental goals. This research paper analyzes the green banking sector in detail by analyzing customer knowledge and preferences among selected public and private banks with specific focus on Vijayapura district. The study recognizes the important role of customers in influencing banking behavior and guiding them towards sustainability. Through a comprehensive mixed methodology, including surveys and interviews, this study seeks to provide nuanced understandings of the current state of consumer awareness, attitudes and preferences towards green banking systems
The methodology involves distributing a structured survey to customers of selected public and private banks in Vijayapura district. The survey instrument is designed to measure the level of awareness of green banking practices, the perceived importance of sustainability in banking operations, and factors influencing customer preferences Furthermore, qualitative insights will be collected by conducting in-depth interviews with a subset of participants.
The implications of the study also extend to education and banking. Academically, the study contributes to the literature on sustainable banking practices and consumer behavior. For the banking industry, insights from this research could serve as guidelines for tailoring green services to better meet customer expectations, foster closer relationships and enhance the overall sustainability of banks the constant has improved.
