Amplifying SDGs: The role of community radio in advancing SDGs 3, 4 and 5 in Karnataka.

Abstract

Sustainable development is the need of the hour and the United Nations has set forth 17 sustainable development goals to address the world’s socio-economic and environment challenges in the year 2015 and the nations have pledged to achieve these goals by the year 2030.The task to achieve these goals needs commitment and dedication from all pillars of the nation state, and the most important role is from the fourth estate. It is seen that the role played by the grass root media has often gone unnoticed.

This study delves into the pivotal role played by the grassroot media, in particular community radio stations in advancing sustainable development goals.To make the study more specific due to the paucity of time SDGs 3, 4 and 5 are selected for the study.
