In contemporary society, education is considered the fourth most critical human necessity, following shelter, food, and clothing. Before attending school, our primary interactions are with our parents and close relatives, which not only fosters the development of new ideas but also instils vital social skills such as empathy and the ability to relate to others which are key elements of maturity. A crucial issue is that knowledge of safe motherhood practices which can enhance maternal and child health while also mitigating pregnancy-related health risks. The aim of our study was to assess the impact of a health education intervention on pregnant women in Chakrata, Uttarakhand, India, focusing on pregnant women knowledge and attitudes towards various aspects of safe motherhood. Pregnancy and childbirth are essential for the survival of humanity, but maternal death is a profound tragedy affecting both mother and child. Despite the introduction of the "Safe Motherhood Initiative” Maternal health is an area of concern for us.
