Abstract

In the textile industry, finishing is a crucial process that enhances fabric performance and functionality. Maintaining health is essential for a stress-free life and optimal productivity. Hygiene plays a vital role in comfortable living. A mosquito repellent textile offers protection against mosquito bites and associated diseases like malaria and dengue. Medicinal plants such as neem (Azadirachta indica), tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum), and mint (Mentha) provide eco-friendly mosquito repellent properties. This project aims to develop an eco-friendly mosquito repellent fabric using extracts from neem, tulsi, and mint. The chemicals are applied to the fabric using the pad-dry-cure and exhaust processes, then evaluated for mosquito repellence. The repellence effectiveness was tested after 5, 7, and 9 washes. Results showed significant mosquito repellent activity in both knit and woven fabrics.
