Contribution of K. K. Handiqui towards Sanskrit Literature

Professor Krishna Kanta Handiqui (K. K. Handiqui), the former Vice - Chancellor of Gauhati University, is one of the renowned sanskritists of the world. He was a man of versatile observation. His keen interest in study and research made him a scholarly writer. Being a scholar of Sanskrit, K. K. Handiqui has proved his worth in three great works. But his knowledge was not limited to Sanskrit only. K. K. Handiqui had also shown his expertise in other languages and his erudition had been projected in many of his writings other than Sanskrit based work. As a scholar of Sanskrit his three epoch making works are – the Naiṣadhacarita of Śrīharṣa, the Yaśastilaka and Indian Culture and the Pravarsena’s Setubandha. The aim of this paper is to show K. K. Handiqui’s contribution towards the Sanskrit literature through his above three works.
