Hearing Impaired refers to a person who cannot hear in one or both ears as compared to a normal child. Individuals with hearing impairments experience loss of hearing in one or both ears as a result of impaired auditory mechanisms. There is a spectrum of hearing loss, from moderate to profound and severe. On this spectrum, those who are deaf are those for whom the auditory channel is an ineffective means of processing speech. The academic achievement of each person varies due to various factors. The current research aimed at knowing the academic achievement of the hearing impaired than their non-hearing-impaired counterparts. This study'sobjective is to find out the variation among the academic achievement of hearing-impaired and non-hearing-impaired students. The study came to the conclusion that a child’s hearing impairment negatively affects his academic performance by placing him at a disadvantage during his social and language development. Thus, it becomes important for all teachers and guardians to take care to eliminate or at least minimize the bias in providing learning opportunities/experiences to both boys and girls with hearing impairment.
