This sociological study examines the socio-economic conditions of homeguard organizations, focusing on their roles, challenges, and contributions to community safety and security. Homeguards, often comprising volunteers or part-time personnel, play a crucial role in supporting law enforcement agencies and enhancing public safety. This research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from homeguard members across various regions.
The findings reveal that homeguard personnel often face significant socio-economic challenges, including low remuneration, lack of job security, and limited access to social benefits. Many members come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, which influences their motivations for joining the organization. The study highlights the dual role of homeguards as both community protectors and individuals seeking economic stability.
Additionally, the research explores the impact of socio-economic conditions on the effectiveness and morale of homeguard organizations. It identifies key factors such as training opportunities, community support, and government policies that can enhance their operational capacity. The study concludes with recommendations for improving the socio-economic status of homeguard personnel, emphasizing the need for policy reforms, better funding, and community engagement to strengthen these vital organizations.
This research contributes to the broader understanding of volunteerism in security sectors and underscores the importance of addressing socio-economic disparities to enhance community safety and cohesion.
