Sanskrit plays a pivotal role in Ayurveda, serving as the medium through which this ancient medical system’s profound knowledge has been preserved and transmitted for millennia. The foundational Ayurvedic texts, including the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita, are composed in Sanskrit, a language renowned for its precision and clarity. Sanskrit’s structural nuances enable the accurate conveyance of Ayurvedic principles, such as dosha, dhatu, and srotas, which embody complex concepts difficult to capture in other languages. Rooted in Sankhya and Vedanta philosophies, Sanskrit integrates seamlessly into Ayurveda's holistic framework, extending its influence to therapeutic practices like mantra chanting. Modern efforts to revitalize Sanskrit in Ayurvedic education ensure the authenticity of traditional knowledge while adapting it for global contexts. By preserving Sanskrit, we not only protect a linguistic heritage but also sustain Ayurveda’s timeless wisdom, ensuring its continued relevance in promoting health and spiritual well-being.
