Abstract

The indigenous toy manufacturing industry in Tamil Nadu is poised for growth, backed by the state's deep-rooted cultural heritage, skilled artisans, and increasing demand for locally made, sustainable products. This paper investigates the opportunities and challenges within this sector through a qualitative research approach, involving insights from artisans, manufacturers, and industry experts. Key opportunities include the government's push for locally-produced goods, the increasing preference for eco-friendly toys, and the potential for local job creation. However, challenges like limited access to modern technology, the dominance of mass-produced toys, and insufficient marketing strategies hinder the sector’s potential. Policy suggestions and strategic recommendations are provided to help revitalize this industry and position it competitively in the global market.
