Evaluating the Contributions of Maharashtra's Universities to the Krishikosh Repository: Trends, Challenges, and Recommendations

Abstract

The Krishikosh digital repository, a crucial platform for agricultural research and knowledge dissemination in India, has witnessed significant contributions from universities across various states, including Maharashtra. This study evaluates the nature, volume, and impact of contributions from universities in Maharashtra to the Krishikosh repository. It examines institutional participation, types of documents submitted, subject domains covered, and the repository’s role in facilitating open-access agricultural knowledge. The study employs bibliometric analysis and content categorization techniques to assess trends and patterns in repository utilization. The findings suggest that while contributions have been substantial, there remain challenges in content standardization, metadata enrichment, and wider adoption. This paper concludes with recommendations for enhancing university participation and ensuring the repository's long-term effectiveness.
