Abstract

Environmental ethics is a study of environmental values, actions and policies to protect and sustain biodiversity and ecological systems. It is like a ethical relationship between humans and their natural environment. Both humans and the environment are interdependent and also they have intrinsic value. It focuses our obligations to the environment and also it expresses our act to protect environment, species and resources. Environmental ethics tells people to become more aware of their actions on the environment. Due to the growth and development in science, industry, management study and cybernatics, people had done a great harm to nature . Now environment is one of the main concern of the world. Creative writers are linked with this major issue. Ruskin Bond is one of the most famous writer of recent times. He lives in Mussoorie that is blessed with natural beauty, flora and fauna. Problems of pollution ,deforestation and environmental decay of wildlife are the main matter of most of Ruskin Bond's short stories. Through his works, he also warns his readersĀ  about the threats to the environment due to industrialization, urbanization and commercialization. The depletion of the natural environment is reflected in his short stories. In his works Bone presents such type of innocent characters who love nature. They want to preserve the environment through tree plantation and they have a sense of duty and responsibility to the environment.
