Value education is crucial in nurturing responsibility, respect, tolerance, brotherhood, and fellow feeling and developing a strong society through inclusivity, solidarity, and equality. This research paper is a critical study of the colossal role of the humanities in strengthening social values and raising the standards of civil sense, contrasting it with the disciplines that are concerned with scientific exploration whose focus primarily is to investigate through observation interpreted through data. In short, this paper analyses the need for the chosen courses as UGC in the Undergraduate course curriculum mandates the need for Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC). Exploring these themes, it aims at providing value-based education that tries to instill in young minds moral development and socio-cultural etiquette. Even though the Indian literature is adequately presented with value elements and the ‘humanities’ play a huge role in developing a personality that adheres to the indoctrination of the values of empathy, sympathy, love, compassion, and patience, a study like this will develop future scope of research which will open areas of discussion like the superiority of literary genres in promoting value system in educational set up. The true meaning of life is defined through the moral awareness that value education awakens through the internalized enlightening of thinking and judging beyond corporal reality. The shared values present the universalistic aspects of the value system that form the root of all advancement and progression of Indian English writings. This paper is an analysis of the triumphant role of literature with special reference to the short fictions of Ruskin Bond that can rise above all forms of study for it can equip the changes and contribute to an ideal society which is the need of the hour in the time of global crisis.
