DESIGNING OF MALE GARMENTS WITH TODA MOTIFS

In India, each state has its own uniqueness of textiles which has an oldest classic culture, sculptures and traditions which are getting distinguished from time to time. To bring the traditional art embroidery to its extent of new ideas through this research, toda embroidery is an intricate form of embroidery. The embroidery is done by black, blue and red wollen thread on off-white and white cotton matty fabric. The toda people are known for their Poothkuli shawl on which different motifs of toda are stitched by toda women. Observation and questionnaire tool was developed to know about consumer preferences. Primary and Secondary source were used for the collection and Selection of motifs was done by the respondents. Motifs were digitalized and then selected by the respondents. 3 point rating scale was used for the selection of digitalized men’s garments with toda motifs.The results showed that 65% of individuals are aware of Indian embroideries. Most preferred designs were digitalized through corel draw software and were rated by the respondents with the help of 3- point rating scale. These designs will give different look in male garments. So, that a new generation could know about their traditional art and craft.
