Abstract

To study aims to comprehensively assess the impact of the Government First Grade College (GFGC) library through analysis of students’ preferences and feedback in order to enhance library services, resources and facilities that meet the users’ needs. The study used quantitative and qualitative methods to balance between inductive and deductive reasoning and collected 212 responses from GFGC Sagara undergraduate students through a questionnaire and 100 responses through interviews using a random sampling technique. The study findings revealed a balanced utilization of library and computing devices, with the use library for reading or studying while computing devices were employed for socializing. Despite the predominant positive feedback on library facilities and service, few students expressed dissatisfaction. The study results are useful for librarians, and higher authorities of all the government first-grade colleges of Karnataka as there are notable similarities among the collections, services, students’ social background and information-seeking behaviour in government first-grade colleges of Karnataka. It offers significant insights aiding the GFGC community in understanding students’ perceptions of the library.
