Abstract

This paper reviews the current knowledge on the intersections between HIV/AIDS care and AYUSH systems in the Indian context. Combination therapies of ART and AYUSH remedies, as well as AYUSH-based supportive care, are areas that need further investigation through rigorous randomized controlled trials to establish safety and effectiveness. Beyond clinical approaches, some AYUSH systems also provide preventative, promotive and holistic care models tailored to local contexts that may help in supporting self-care and wellbeing for people living with HIV/AIDS. Integrative health systems incorporating biomedical and AYUSH domains can play a constructive role in achieving the 90-90-90 targets in India. The pluralistic healthcare environment calls for sensitization amongst all streams of medicine to work together while retaining the authenticity of different knowledge systemsGrief is a natural yet complex psychosocial response to loss that is profoundly shaped by illness experiences. Individuals living with HIV/AIDS undergo multiple losses and confront deep-seated stigma, amplifying the intensity of their grief.
