Abstract

A novel mixed legend complexes of the type[Ti(C15H12N2O.X)2(C2H5OCS2)Cl] were synthesized by the reaction of titanium tetrachloride with[3-(2’-hydroxyphenyl)-5-(4’-X-substituted phenyl)-pyrazoline] and xanthate in 1:2:1 molar ratio in dry benzene and methanol under an inert atmosphere due to  the hygroscopic nature of TiCl4. The newly prepared [Ti(C15H12N2O.X)2Cl2] and [(C15H12N2O.X)2Ti(C2H5OCS2)Cl] complexes were characterized by physico-chemical and various spectroscopic techniques like FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis. The distorted octahedral geometry with coordination number six, around the central metal ion (Titanium) in complexes can be proposed by the above spectral studies. The antimicrobial behavior of these newly synthesized titanium complexes was also studied.
