A Study on Social Media in India: A Review

Cybercrime has emerged as a significant threat in the digital age, with social media platforms becoming prime targets for criminal activities. This study examines the landscape of cybercrimes in India, focusing particularly on the role of social media platforms. Through an analysis of recent trends, case studies, and legislative frameworks, this research aims to provide insights into the nature, prevalence, and impact of cybercrimes in the Indian context. The study begins by outlining the various forms of cybercrimes prevalent in India, including identity theft, cyberbullying, financial fraud, online harassment, and data breaches, among others. Special attention is given to the unique challenges posed by social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp, which serve as breeding grounds for cybercriminals due to their widespread usage and interconnected nature.
