Abstract

The study on the evolution of land use patterns in Dhar District from 2010 to 2025 reveals significant shifts shaped by urbanization, agricultural intensification, and environmental factors. Urban areas expanded by 61.90%, while agricultural land and forest cover declined, raising concerns about food security, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem health[1]. The increase in water bodies and reduction in wastelands reflect positive impacts of conservation efforts. However, the rising Land Use Intensity Index indicates growing competition for land resources. These findings highlight the need for sustainable urban planning and land management strategies that balance economic development with the protection of agricultural and natural ecosystems, ensuring long-term resilience for the region.
